Resiliency and Urgency in an Era of Climate Change
Throughout her years on the Austin City Council, Kathie Tovo emphasized the importance of urgent action to make Austin a more climate resilient.
Water. From her leadership initiating and continuing to push forward the work of the Water Forward Task Force, Kathie helped the City of Austin pass a 100-year water plan, with recommendations on important policy changes that will help Austin families save water and money.
Energy. During both rate cases that occurred while she was on the Austin City Council, Kathie Tovo advocated and helped conservation-friendly tiers for residential customers. This helped reduce electric bills for lower-income families, while encouraging energy conservation by higher energy users.
